Body art businesses and establishments may also be regulated by the city/town office and/or county office. (22)

If you plan to perform body art, such as tattoos, permanent makeup, piercings, branding and scarifications in a salon licensed by the Arizona Barbering & Cosmetology Board, you must prominently post a sign that reads: “These services are not regulated by the Arizona Barbering & Cosmetology Board” and include a list services provided but not regulated. (21)

A tattoo needle and any waste exposed to human blood that is generated in the creation of a tattoo shall be disposed of in the same manner as biohazardous medical waste pursuant to section 49-761 of the Arizona Revised Statutes. (20)

Refer to your own legal counsel for Arizona laws requiring the physical presence of a parent/guardian during the tattooing of anyone under the age of 18 and to use an unsterilized needle, use a needle or ink more than once, or do tattooing or body piercing outside of a permanent structure.
